Our client is looking for an experienced attorney to join the Firm’s nationally recognized Intellectual Property (IP) team as a Trademark Litigation Partner. Position Summary, Responsibilities and Qualifications
Our client’s IP department is home to a team of leading intellectual property litigators. Their deep IP litigation experience includes plaintiff and defense side trademark and unfair competition, patent, copyright, and trade secret litigation, as well as experience with licensing and other contractual disputes, and enforcement of confidentiality and noncompetition agreements. They regularly represent their clients before federal and state courts, the USPTO, the U.S. International Trade Commission, foreign administrative agencies, and alternate dispute resolution forums.
Key Responsibilities
• Protect and enforce the intellectual property rights of their clients across various industries, including;
• Leading and managing trademark and copyright litigation cases from inception through resolution;
• Successfully prosecuting and defending opposition, cancellation and other proceedings in the TTAB;
• Counseling and advocating for clients in trademark, copyright, false advertising, and unfair competition, and other intellectual property disputes;
• Representing clients in court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings; and
• Developing and implementing litigation strategies to protect and enforce clients’ trademark and copyright assets;
• Deliver high quality work-product and effectively communicate at all levels of the firm and its clients;
• Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and high energy and enthusiasm for counseling in the relevant client sector;
• Exhibit highly responsive, creative and efficient work habits;
• Strive to continuously improve knowledge, skills and abilities and seek guidance and feedback to improve performance and productivity;
• Represent the firms trademark and copyright litigation group at INTA and other association and industry events;
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior attorneys working under your supervision;
• Take responsibility for enhancing expertise, in addition to seeking out formal and informal training;
• Integrate into the practice and build strong relationships with external clients and with the firms internal clients in other practice areas; and
• Network with existing clients and develop business opportunities.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of experience litigating trademark, copyright, false advertising, and unfair competition matters in both U.S. District Court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (“TTAB”);
• Proven track record of successfully managing and resolving complex IP disputes;
• Skilled in working across diverse industry lines including but not limited to automotive, consumer products, internet technology, and social media;
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under significant time constraints;
• Outstanding interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills required;
• J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited institution;
• Licensed Michigan, Illinois, or Washington, DC attorney in good standing (or with ability to waive into one of these jurisdictions); and
• Ability to travel as client and firm needs require.
Salary $450,000.00, plus bonus
