Premier, global, law firm has an opening for a Senior Manager, Professional Development and Recruiting to be based in their Chicago office. Working with the Legal Personnel team, the Manager provides strategic direction and administrative support to the partners in the firm’s Chicago office. The position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer. The Senior Manager will supervise a legal personnel professional based in the Chicago office. Responsibilities
In collaboration with other US offices:
- Lead strategy and execution of campus recruiting for the Chicago office working
- with national efforts; including law school relationship management, on-campus
- interview, callback logistics, candidate engagement and the Chicago summer
Manage Professional Development Programs including:
- Design, implement, and evaluate Chicago associate programming aligned with firm business and practice priorities, including training, mentorship, and career development initiatives.
- Partner with firm management and operating committees to shape and administer associate retention strategies and the performance management process, ensuring fairness, rigor, and consistency.
- Own the integrity of personnel data for Chicago attorneys and contribute to firmwide reporting, analytics, and insights that inform talent decisions.
- Tracking and confirming attorney compliance with IL Bar admission rules Partner with the Lateral Recruiting Manager on Chicago-specific searches, advising on sourcing strategies, candidate assessment, and offer recommendations.
- Lead the onboarding and integration plan for newly hired associates in Chicago, ensuring a seamless transition, connection to key stakeholders, and alignment with performance expectations.
- Collaborate with the Inclusion & Engagement Committee to develop and execute firmwide and Chicago office initiatives that promote belonging, sponsorship, and equitable access to opportunities. Integrate inclusion goals into recruiting, professional development, and performance processes to support measurable outcomes.
- Supervise junior legal personnel professional based in the Chicago office.
- Contribute to an array of other programs and duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Six or more years’ experience in professional services organization.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Knowledge of legal recruiting, associate development and/or human resources practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- A self-starter who has the ability to work both independently and also collaboratively with the Talent Management team and firm leadership.
- Ability to provide leadership and support for detailed and complex projects.
- Flexibility in the midst of multiple and/or changing priorities and deadlines.
- Integrity – strong professional and ethical standards; must observe confidentiality of
- personnel and Firm matters.
- Proficiency in Outlook, MS Office Suite and familiarity with Asana, viRecruit or a similar recruiting database.

- Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances.
- Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.
- Ability to work in close proximity to other individuals.
- Ability to carry light objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance.
- Must be able to lift, carry and move objects up to 25 lbs.

The salary range for this role is $175,000.00-$190,000.00, plus bonus and represents the Firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
