Senior Compensation Analyst

Summary

The Senior Compensation will help shape and enhance our global compensation process and strategy for both business professionals and attorneys. In this highly visible role, you’ll collaborate with HR Business Partners, Recruiters and firm leadership to ensure our programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with our strategic goals. You’ll take ownership of key compensation processes, support attorney review cycles, and drive innovation by streamlining and automating programs through data insights and technology-all while delivering exceptional client service and partnership across the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Owns and manages components of the firm’s business professional compensation processes, including annual merit and bonus reviews, off-cycle adjustments, and compensation analyses.
  • Partners closely with HR Business Partners and business leadership to provide compensation consultation, evaluate market competitiveness, and develop pay recommendations.
  • Leads market benchmarking by participating in compensation surveys, managing vendor relationships, and analyzing results to inform pay strategies.
  • Conducts market pricing and job evaluations to ensure internal equity and alignment with external benchmarks.
  • Provides analytical and operational support to the Attorney Compensation Manager during attorney annual processes and other attorney compensation initiatives throughout the year.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to align compensation processes with budgeting, reporting, and system capabilities.
  • Monitors compensation trends, provides insights, and recommends adjustments to maintain competitiveness and consistency across the firm’s offices.
  • Assists in the design, documentation, and communication of compensation policies, structures, and procedures, incorporating best practices for automation and process efficiency.
  • Drafts and maintains compensation documentation, including promotion and salary change memos, and ensures accurate and timely processing of Workday transactions using data-driven checks and automated workflows where feasible.
  • Reviews and advises on offer recommendations and manages claw back assessments for sign-on or retention bonuses, ensuring alignment with firm policies and practices.
  • Develops and enhances compensation tools, dashboards, and visualizations to support data driven decision making and strengthen firmwide reporting. Identifies and implements process improvement opportunities to streamline compensation workflows, strengthen data integrity, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in compensation analysis, design and administration with increasing responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation or progress toward certification preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of compensation principles and employment laws. Knowledge of Europe and Asia is a plus.
  • Demonstrated passion for the profession with strong analytical, project management and technology skills, including advanced Excel proficiency and familiarity with tools such as Power Query and Power Pivot.
  • Experience in a professional services/law firm environment is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Workday is preferred.
  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective internal and external client relationships.
  • Initiative to ensure consistent quality, accuracy and continuous improvement.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.  

New York, San Francisco salary range: $104,000.00-$145,000.00, plus bonus. 

Los Angeles salary range: $99,000.00-$138,000, plus bonus.
