Senior Communications Manager

Summary

As the Senior Communications Manager, you will help expand brand reach and visibility for the Firm and its practices, industries and attorneys, primarily via media relations/PR tactics, and work closely with firm and departmental leadership on communications initiatives.

Managing others is a key facet of this role. The Senior Manager will oversee junior and mid-level members of the Communications Team, collaborate with the Sr. Communications Manager – Conferences and Business Development colleagues, and support the CMO and Director of Communications on firm-wide projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all practice group media relations. Work closely with partners and Business Development colleagues to align on goals and priorities, and closely oversee Communications team members on tactical execution against these goals
  • Review work products such as media pitches, content calendar drafting, byline ideas, and more
  • As needed, work with the Director of Communications and CMO on firm-level projects, including lateral announcements and crisis communications
  • Build and maintain relationships with top-tier and legal/financial industry trade media
  • As needed, work with colleagues in Marketing and Content on visibility campaigns and major firm announcements to ensure consistency in messaging
  • Overall, the goal is not to maintain the status quo, but to regularly be bringing new, proactive ideas to partners and colleagues and to motivate and coach the wider team to do the same

Requirements

  • A degree in journalism, communications, marketing, English or a related field
  • 10+ years experience in public relations, journalism or a related field
  • Experience leading teams and/or managing others
  • Experience working with financial or professional services firms is preferred (either in an in-house or agency setting)
  • Strong media relations skills and relationships with top-tier and business media
  • Strong organizational/project management skills and proven ability to hit deadlines
  • Experience collaborating with and presenting to senior executives/attorneys
  • Experience using metrics to define and measure success of media relations and communications initiatives

This is a hybrid role which requires in-office attendance in accordance with the schedule set forth by the department. A hybrid schedule is an essential function of this role.

Compensation: $170,000.00-$185,000.00 annually, plus bonus
