Senior Bankruptcy Paralegal

Summary

This role supports complex Chapter 11 and out-of-court restructuring matters on both debtor-side and creditor-side engagements at a law firm in New York, NY.

Responsibilities

  • File pro hac vices, notices of appearance, motions, notices of presentment, notices of cancellation, and other documents via ECF/PACER/PacerPro in jurisdictions such as Delaware, SDNY, SDTX, and New Jersey
  • Communicate with clients and local counsel regarding filing, process, and case administration matters
  • Support both debtor-side and creditor-side matters in complex Chapter 11 and out-of-court restructuring
  • Cite-check and proofread briefs, motions, and exhibits
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior paralegals
  • Manage docket and case calendars across multiple active bankruptcy matters, tracking deadlines for filings, hearings, and claims bar dates
  • Provide administrative support for adversary proceedings, including automatic stay disputes, avoidance actions, and claims objections
  • Prepare trial and hearing materials, including exhibit lists, binders, and witness lists
  • Conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw and Courtlink
  • Familiarity with invoicing, billing, and preparation of fee applications for restructuring matters

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience with Bankruptcy Court procedures and practices, including prior work in a law firm’s bankruptcy group representing debtors and creditors in complex Chapter 11 matters
  • Familiarity with the Chapter 11 reorganization process and related documents (e.g., SoFAs, fee applications, disclosure statements, plans of reorganization)
  • Experience e-filing in both U.S. Bankruptcy and U.S. District Courts, with proficiency in CM/ECF and PACER
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong sense of accountability, with the ability to take ownership of projects and proactively resolve issues
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple requests, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills and a strong client service orientation
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required

Compensation: $100,000.00-$115,000.00, plus overtime and bonus
