RIS Technical Services Assistant

Summary

Under the supervision of the Library Resources Manager, the RIS Technical Services Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day processing, routing, and distribution of research materials.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the receipt of incoming materials, checks materials into the Integrated Library System (ILS), prepares and sends materials for routing as indicated, and claims and resolves missing material issues.
  • Creates and maintains distribution lists for routing purposes, both electronically and in print.
  • Maintains the catalog by editing bibliographic and item records as necessary.
  • Files pocket parts and loose-leaf updates for print materials, both within the library and attorney offices.
  • Order, label and distribute desk books.
  • Shelves new and returned materials and periodically update retention of materials.
  • Handles requests to circulate print books and for articles to be copied as needed.
  • Undertake other duties and projects, as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • One to two years of library technical services experience or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in using automated technical services system, with expertise in SirsiDynix Horizon considered a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • Capability to work collaboratively as part of a team, particularly in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Compensation

The expected base salary for this role ranges from $62,000 – $70,000.  The base salary offer is based on a variety of factors which includes, but is not limited to qualifications, education and experience.
