Summary
The Reporting Analyst will support and enhance the firm’s financial and operational reporting. This role goes beyond standard report production-focusing on improving, streamlining, and modernizing reporting across time, revenue, billing, collections, and financial performance. The position requires substantial law firm experience, a comprehensive understanding of legal financial and operational workflows, and the ability to convert complex data into meaningful business intelligence. This role leverages data analytics, reporting, and visualization tools to provide actionable insights that support strategic decision-making, enhance operational efficiency, and drive business performance across the firm.
Responsibilities
Reporting & Analytics
- Develop, maintain, and enhance firmwide reports across:
- Time, productivity, and compensation metrics (hours, utilization, missing time, partner/attorney compensation support)
- Revenue and billing (WIP, billings, rates, realization)
- Commission and compensation reporting (partner commissions, originations, credit allocations)
- Collections and accounts receivable (aging, cash flow, follow-ups)
- Financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Budgeting and forecast reporting
- Bank and industry survey reporting
Report Optimization & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline, standardize, and improve existing reports
- Enhance accuracy, usability, and timeliness of reporting outputs
- Reduce manual effort and eliminate duplicative processes
- Partner with Accounting, Billing, and IT to improve data quality and consistency
Financial Systems & Data Management
- Utilize financial systems (Elite 3E, Aderant, Iridium, or similar) to extract and validate data
- Develop a strong understanding of underlying legal financial data structures (WIP, AR, clients, matters, timekeepers)
- Troubleshoot reporting issues and collaboration with internal teams and vendors as needed
- Ensure consistency between system data and reported outputs
Strategic & Operational Support
- Perform analysis on profitability, realization, and collections trends
- Support the annual budgeting process
- Assist leadership in identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in reporting strategy and data governance
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience in a law firm or professional services environment
- Proven experience building and maintaining financial and operational reports
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Preferred
- Experience with Elite 3E, Aderant, and/or Iridium BI
- Exposure to data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI or similar)
- Familiarity with data models, reporting cubes, or SQL-based reporting
- Experience supporting law firm profitability and performance analysis
Skills and Abilities

- Effective communicator with both financial and non-financial stakeholders

Compensation: $110,000.00-$150,000.00, plus bonus.
