Summary, Responsibilities and Qualifications
Our client’s Intellectual Property (IP) department focuses on patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets for client portfolios worldwide, including search, registration, enforcement, anti-counterfeiting, litigation, and a range of transactional work involving intellectual property rights. Their patent agents cover a variety of patent-related matters, including drafting patent applications and prosecuting them before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), conducting patent searches, and assisting with litigation research. They represent clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups, universities, and independent inventors across the U.S., with particular technical strengths in the software, electrical, mechanical, and chemical areas, as well as in the life sciences industry.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare, revise, review and file applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and foreign offices and associated supporting tasks;
• Prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and associated supporting tasks;
• Conduct patent searches and perform prior art searches and patentability analyses;
• Assist with preparing legal opinions for chemical and mechanical inventions, including freedom to operate, patentability, and invalidity;
• Deliver high quality work-product and effectively communicate at all levels of the firm and its clients;
• Exhibit highly responsive, creative and efficient work habits; and
• Stay current with technological advancements and industry trends in areas such as organic chemistry and polymer chemistry.
Qualifications
• Registered Patent Agent with the USPTO with 2-5 years of experience;
• Degree in Chemistry and/or Chemical Engineering; and
• Outstanding interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills.

The salary range for this position is $120,000.00-$150,000.00, plus bonus.
