Litigation Paralegal-Corporate Governance

Reports To: Managing Director of Paralegals

About the Team and the Role

Premier, national, law firm is looking for an experienced Paralegal to join the firm’s Corporate Governance litigation practice. Their Corporate Governance team has a strong track record of precedent-setting outcomes over the last two decades and has successfully combated unfair deals, created billions of dollars in increased shareholder value, addressed self-dealing and executive compensation issues in the boardroom and executive suite, and successfully challenged harassment and discrimination in the workplace, setting governance models for companies as they move forward. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform legal and factual research (using Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, BloombergLaw, AlphaSense, and other systems)
  • Prepare, finalize, and file legal documents
  • Independently manage assigned cases in an organized and efficient manner
  • Draft, proofread and cite-check/fact-check briefs, complaints, and other documents
  • Perform electronic filings with courts.
  • Organize and track case files, and maintain reference files, and manage outlook calendar deadlines
  • Assist with retrieving production documents and rules/regulations.
  • Prepare for depositions (scheduling, booking, coordinating with outside council and vendors, preparing exhibits, etc.)
  • Maintain time entries in ProLaw, Dayforce, and iTimeKeep
  • Virtually attend monthly Paralegal/Case Manager meetings.
  • Carry out duties given by attorneys and Managing Director of Paralegals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm
  • Solid experience and skills performing cite checking and Bluebooking
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skills
  • Strong research skills and proficiency in using various research tools including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, Pacer, and other court-related websites
  • Strong proofreading and grammar skills along with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Effectively able to organize and prioritize work, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities while working independently
  • Solid word processing skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Well versed in Federal / State rules and filings
  • Knowledge of PACER is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Class action experience
  • Delaware Chancery Court experience 

Work Environment

  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position based in New York, NY
  • This is a hybrid role (3 days in-office (Tuesdays and Wednesdays required); 2 days work-from-home)
  • Overtime (above 35 hours) may be required based on business needs.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Firm provides medical, dental, and vision plans along with other benefits such as generous PTO, employee assistance programs, 401k, and more
  • Salary range: $85,000.00-$115,000.00, plus overtime and bonus (depending on experience).
