Human Resources Generalist

SUMMARY

Global law firm is hiring a Human Resources Generalist. This important role within the Human Resources function will support a variety of HR-related programs, policies and initiatives including but not limited to: full life-cycle recruiting, orientation and on-boarding, training and development, employee relations, performance management, compensation and special projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned:

Full life cycle recruiting

  • Partner with hiring managers to develop and maintain job descriptions
  • Create effective hiring strategies and related job postings
  • Source, screen, and interview candidates
  • Prepare and extend candidate offers
  • Conduct background and reference checks
  • Negotiate agency fees with vendors

Orientation and on-boarding

  • Monitor and update the on-boarding process and orientation presentation
  • Prepare agendas and conduct new hire orientations
  • Schedule technical and other training for new employees during on-boarding
  • Conduct regular check-ins with new hires and hiring managers
  • Act as liaison for new hires to the firm

Training and development

  • Recommend, evaluate, and participate in training and organizational development initiatives
  • Collaborate within the HR team to help facilitate the development of training on various topics

Employee relations

  • Assist managers, supervisors and employees in the interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures
  • Provide support to the Senior Manager of Human Resources with employee relations issues when necessary

Performance management & compensation

  • Assist as needed with the performance management process including the review of performance appraisals and assessment of development opportunities
  • Provide support to the Manager of compensation on special projects

In addition, responsibilities related to maintaining firm and client information are to be adhered to by all employees. This includes complying with the firm’s information security policies, protecting firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to management.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Knowledge of the key principles and practices of Human Resources
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees at all levels of the organization while maintaining confidentiality
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to present ideas, facts, and recommendations effectively
  • Organizational skills and taking the initiative

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of three years Human Resources experience
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking systems
  • Bachelor’s degree required, SHRM or HRCI certifications are a plus

Salary: $90,000-$100,000, dependent on experience
