Director of Finance

Summary
Our client is one of the oldest law firms in continuous existence in the United States, who have represented their largest institutional client for over 175 years.
The Director of Finance is responsible for the Firm’s financial management function. The Director will prepare financial analysis, budgets, and reports, perform a variety of administrative, accounting duties to maintain accurate financial and billing records and reports, observe confidentiality of client and Firm matters, and supervise the finance department staff.
Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees and directs all general operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
- Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

General Ledger:
- Taxes
- Benefit Plans
- Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
- Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations including benefit plans.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Files quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications
- Ten years or more of related experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration required.
- Certified Public Accountant required.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure.
- Have a professional demeanor with excellent judgment and willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to work both independently and collaborate as part of a larger team.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $225,000 – $250,000. Benefits include a 35 hour work week, generous PTO plan, outstanding working environment, and competitive benefits.
