Summary

Our client has created a Counsel position to assist their global commercial underwriting team in assessing the merits of cases they are considering for funding. This role is a support role specifically designed for an experienced attorney who excels at high-quality legal research and case analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the US commercial underwriting team to review and analyze new matters
  • Draft and edit memos designed to provide a clear and thorough analysis of the factual and legal bases for claims, strengths and weaknesses of a case, and a detailed recommendation about the strength of a case
  • Legal research related to new areas of law we are exploring to assist the team in developing opportunities for business development outreach
  • Legal research as needed to support ethics and policy team

Qualifications

  • Thoughtful litigator with an intuitive sense of the merit, value and risks of litigation;
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience as a litigator, preferably at a large law firm
  • Licensed to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction preferred
  • Excellent legal research written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Candidates must be capable of actively managing and prioritizing several projects concurrently and taking initiative
  • Candidates must exhibit professional demeanor and ability to work collegially
  • Team player who can work collegially with all members of the underwriting and business development teams across firm’s global offices

Compensation

The base compensation range for this role is $225,000 – $250,000. Our client also offers a discretionary annual merit bonus. All new hires are awarded a welcome Restricted Stock Unit grant. The firm provides competitive health care benefits and a 401k matching program.
