Commercial Litigation Paralegal

Summary
The Miami office of an AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking experienced applicants for a paralegal opening. The ideal candidate will have a 2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education. Mid-size to large law firm experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform full range of paralegal tasks from case inception through case closure.
- Maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars.
- Electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system under the supervision of an attorney.
- Performs basic legal and factual research.
- Prepare case summaries and timelines.
- Prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions.
- Prepare deposition notices; organize, maintain and prepare deposition materials, exhibits and summaries.
- Track and manage discovery, including document productions.
- Participate in case strategy meetings.
- Handle routine calls and correspondence to courts, outside attorneys, and clients.
- Ensure expertise in technology relevant to the position; proactively use most current technology to further teamwork, client service, and efficiency.
Requirements
- Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken).
- Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet, Westlaw, and Courtlink.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
