Senior Collections Specialist

A midsize global law firm seeks a Senior Collections Specialist to provide support for all related client collection needs such as assisting in credit and collections activities to ensure monies owed to the firm are received in a timely manner while maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders. The Collections Specialist will report to the Director of Finance while working collaboratively with the CFO/COO, Partners, and other firm management positions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily collections operations
  • Communicate with clients regarding delinquent accounts inclusive of preparing and sending collection communications and generating reminder statements in a timely manner
  • Negotiating payment plans with clients
  • Perform account reconciliations
  • Work with the firm’s attorneys to research, analyze, and resolve collections issues
  • Effectively interact with and support the firm’s attorneys regarding their accounts receivables
  • Understand and cross-train on billing functions
  • Other billing duties and projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 3-5+ years of experience communicating with client regarding delinquent accounts in legal or related field required
  • Experience with Aderant or other legal billing system
  • Must have strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Superior analytical skills inclusive of basic math skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel with proficiency in MS Outlook and Word and willingness to learn new technical systems
  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Comfort independently and collaboratively working on multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Demonstrated high degree of confidentiality and discretion
  • Resourceful, creative, dependable, proactive, can-do attitude

Compensation and Work Schedule

This position is based in our New York office with a current hybrid schedule of 3 days in-office, 2 days working remotely. This is a nonexempt position with a typical shift being 9am – 5pm  with occasional overtime. The expected salary range is $70,000 – $100,000, depending on experience.
