Business Development Specialist-Litigation

Summary

The Business Development Specialist will work closely with the Litigation Business Development Managers and other members of the team on a variety of business development and marketing initiatives supporting practice groups within the Litigation Department. The Specialist will assist the Managers with executing on strategic plans, including pitch and RFP development, research and competitive analysis, market visibility and recognition efforts, marketing content development and maintenance, event and sponsorship coordination, and general business development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Proposal and Pitch Support: Supports the Business Development Managers in preparing sophisticated, thoughtful, and persuasive pitch materials, including responding to client RFPs and developing tailored marketing collateral.
  • Event Coordination: Supports the planning and execution of firm-hosted programs including in-person thought leadership, webinars, and client receptions, as well as coordinates sponsorships to fully leverage benefits.
  • Market Research: In collaboration with the Library & Research Services team, reviews and conducts research on companies, industries, marketplaces, and competitors related to pitches and other strategic initiatives; develops insights and communicates recommendations and applicable information to lawyers.
  • Competitive Analysis: Gathers intelligence on legal industry trends to provide attorneys with an understanding of the competitive landscape and to position the firm for increased effectiveness in winning new business.
  • Rankings and Directories: Contributes to market recognition efforts, including overseeing the development of legal directory submissions (Benchmark Litigation, Chambers USA, Legal 500, etc.).
  • Content Management: Supports the management of the firm’s experience database (Foundation) and contact management system (InterAction), including activity tagging, updating database content, and performing queries and generating reports as needed.
  • Marketing Communications: Coordinates with Communications and Digital Marketing teams to propose and support marketing communications-related activities, such as website updates, improvements to attorney biographies and online profiles including LinkedIn.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Supports the Business Development Director and Managers in tracking and reporting on Litigation Department and California Regional business development activities, including client victories, pitch wins, cross-selling activities, thought leadership opportunities, etc.
  • Performs special projects as requested by Clients & Markets leadership team.
  • Displays integrity, quality service and a “can do” attitude to internal members/departments of the firm as well as external clients and vendors via email and written correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven experience in a dynamic environment with high expectations for superior client service, attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong time management skills to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Research skills and reasoning ability to turn data into succinct and useful deliverable for lawyers.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Education

  • BA/BS required.

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of experience in legal environment or professional services marketing and business development role preferred.

Compensation: $84,200.00-$125,000.00, plus bonus.
