Business Development Specialist

Summary
Guided by marketing department objectives and priorities and collaborating closely with attorneys and the business development team, prepares responses to cross-practice, panel, and other complex RFPs. Provides assistance and project management to RFP team on marketing requests and initiatives. Manages content library and assists with content management strategy. Collaborates with business development and pricing teams across groups and offices to ensure effectiveness and attain synergies for all business development programs. Ensures client service and satisfaction are attained in all areas of the position.
Responsibilities
Pitch + RFP Process
• Create client-focused pitches and proposals, customizing and writing new content as needed to ensure proposals are flawlessly prepared, timely, accurate, and reflect best content possible.
• Assist with targeted projects to improve content, create efficiencies in the proposal process, and otherwise improve the pitching function across BD.
• Manage RFP content, including maintaining the clause library and other resources. Oversee content management system and collaborate with other BD team members to ensure resources stay up to date.
• Coordinate response to client RFIs including operational/due diligence, diversity, onboarding, and supplier questionnaires, working closely with other departments such as Billing, D&I, Practice Administration, Information Security, and Risk Management.
• Manage RFP/project tracking through Salesforce, collaborating closely with RFP team and business development managers on project status and deadlines.
• Track and maintain pitch/RFP data and metrics; periodically report results to business development senior management.
Collaborate with Business Development and Other Staff
• Work closely with other BD team members (practice, industry, and regional staff) to ensure seamless deployment of business development programs.
• Work with pricing team to develop tailored fee proposals.
• Work with functional marketing specialists in public relations (including rankings and surveys), graphics, CRM/transaction database, and website to ensure strong intra-departmental communication, client service and efficiency.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Four or more years of professional services business development and/or marketing experience; law firm experience highly preferred.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines.
• Excellent writing skills; ability to focus written materials to ensure impact on general business, legal, and niche populations.
• Highly motivated, with a commitment to taking ownership and responsibility.
• Driven to create the highest quality, error-free work product.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.
San Francisco, Palo Alto salary range: $70,000.00-$104,000.00, plus bonus
Los Angeles, San Diego salary range: $65,000.00-$98,000.00, plus bonus
