Business Development Manager-Private Equity

The Business Development Manager works closely with the New York Private Equity Group to develop and sustain a loyal client base.

  • Proactively track and monitor key client relationships. Develop a keen understanding of key relationships and opportunities for assigned attorneys and practices.
  • Partner with attorneys to plan business development-related client meetings and business travel. Ensure that meetings and travel plans align with the strategic objectives of both the client and the firm.
  • Identify new opportunities for relationship development and introductions. Proactively conduct research on potential clients and industry trends to identify new business opportunities.
  • Lead the development of concise and actionable business development and marketing plans, with underlying budget recommendations, aligning strategies with the firm’s marketing and business development goals.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the law for assigned groups and relevant industries that could result in expanded or new client opportunities, etc.
  • Independently develop ideas and concepts to influence business development strategies.
  • Advise attorneys on optimal strategies for the preparation of complex pitches and RFP/RFI responses, demonstrating the ability to match the client needs with corporate capabilities and value-add.
  • Manage preparation of response materials for proposals, customizing and creating content as needed. Set and manage standards to ensure pitches/RFPs/RFIs, etc. are flawlessly prepared, timely, accurate, and reflect best content possible.
  • Manage tracking and maintenance of pitch/RFP/RFI data and metrics; periodically report results to business development senior management.
  • Participate in completing timely submissions to directories and ranking authorities, ensure rankings in preferred publications, such as Chambers & Partners, are maximized.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities through collecting and proactively sharing information with other business development managers and the Marketing team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Five or more years of professional services business development and/or marketing experience; law firm experience highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of core marketing principles including driving innovative tools and programs, competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch and RFP responses.
  • High degree of motivation, with driving sense of responsibility, accountability, and responsiveness.
  • Excellent writing skills. Ability to focus written materials to ensure impact on general business, legal, and niche populations.
  • Strong business acumen: the ability to recognize marketing and business development opportunities and to pursue them strategically.
  • Excellent attention to detail in all areas, including writing, copy editing, researching, and managing data.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and capability to work effectively in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple requests, assess priorities, and achieve solutions under deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions, including ability to draw clear conclusions from a diverse collection of data.
  • Talent for creating client satisfaction; demonstrated ability to focus on the client value in all work.

Compensation

$140,000.00-$185,000.00, plus bonus
