Associate General Counsel-Intellectual Property, Technology, and Exempt Organizations

Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the VP-General Counsel and complementing the work of another Associate General Counsel, this role will be responsible for handling a wide range of legal matters:
• IP matters including copyright advising, trademark portfolio, licensing and distribution agreements;
• technology contracts, including cybersecurity and software licenses;
• supervision of rights clearance activities across various areas, including music, dance, and drama;
• other exempt organization / nonprofit tax matters;
• general contracts; and
• other legal matters as assigned.

Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience and excellence in the practice of law, particularly with all or some of the areas of focus identified above; experience with non-profit organizations, higher education, and/or cultural/entertainment organizations is strongly preferred
• Exposure to or willingness to learn about legal areas including: philanthropic gifts, grants and sponsorships, trusts and estates
• A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and New York State bar admission
• Good standing to practice law in New York State
• Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion
• Collaborative interpersonal skills
• Excellent communications
• The ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters at once
• Excellent judgment and the ability to balance legal risks with business strategy
• Appreciation of the performing arts and dedication to higher education

The expected salary range for this position is $180,000.00-$187,000.00.
