Assistant Managing Clerk

Description

Strong work experience in all aspects of the functions of the Managing Clerk’s office, including:

  • Good working knowledge of litigation documents and applicable deadlines.
  • On-line document research and retrieval.
  • Extensive experience with electronic case filing in both state and federal courts.
  • Review documents before service and filing for correct form, signatures, required filing fees, required number of copies, etc.
  • Maintaining firm wide list of attorney e-filing credentials for all jurisdictions.
  • Maintain Bar Admissions chart.
  • Advise attorneys on procedural matters.
  • Alert attorneys of incoming court papers, notices and impending deadlines.
  • Advise attorneys of newly instituted procedures.
  • Occasional by-hand submission of documents at local courts.
  • Strong organizational skills, adept at multitasking, able to work independently when needed.
  • Excellent telephone manner and professional demeanor.
  • Occasional overtime required (overtime rotation of evening email coverage).
  • Assist with managing Clerk Coordinator, Court Clerk and Administrative Assistant. 

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of CourtAlert, Pacer, New York State Unified Court System (NYSCEF), Courthouse News.
  • Strong working knowledge of the CPLR, FRCP, local court rules and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of electronic case filing in Federal, State and Bankruptcy courts.

Education/Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Managing Clerk’s office required.
  • College Degree required.
  • Notary Public license preferred.
