Summary

Work jointly with Director of Attorney Development & Training to manage various professional development functions, including training programs, mentoring, professional development committee meetings, new associate orientation, special projects and other professional development programs.

Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential Functions

  • Manage the Firm’s attorney mentoring program
  • Manage and develop various departmental training programs, boot camps, workshop series, and seminars
  • Attend professional development committee meetings and seek opportunities to further the goals and projects identified
  • Serve as core member of New Associate Orientation planning and execution team
  • Assist with associate focus groups/outreach, with the goal of applying feedback to PD programming
  • Identify and implement new training opportunities; keep apprised of industry developments
  • Acquire solid expertise in CLE rules
  • Supervise assistant in maintaining mentoring database, workshop logistics and additional projects; supervise coordinator on special projects as needed
  • Partner with Director to identify needs and goals to provide top professional development support to the firm’s attorneys
  • Special projects as needed
  • Any additional responsibilities as required by management

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • JD with experience as a practicing attorney and a strong interest in professional development work or a learning & development professional with 7+ years of experience supporting or managing professional development programs for lawyers
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • A demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects with attention to detail
  • A demonstrated ability and strong desire to work as part of a team in a demanding, client-centered legal services environment
  • Ability to serve as a role model to junior staff through steady demeanor and enthusiastic attitude; helps to create an engaging and appealing team culture
  • Consistently positive outlook with focus on proposing/finding solutions
  • Strong interest in elevating programs and processes to the next level; willingness to apply creativity to accomplish these goals
  • Strong understanding of CLE rules and procedure or willingness/ability to learn and apply rules
  • Strong interest in carrying out team’s objectives in the context of the firm’s diversity & inclusion goals

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelors’ degree required
  • JD/practice experience a plus
