Summary
The Docket Clerk provides support to the Managing Attorney, Managing Clerk, and the Department, coordinating clerical and administrative tasks. The person in this position has a great deal of contact with lawyers, management and staff in the Firm and acts as a point of first contact in many cases, so a strong client service ethic and a professional phone manner are of the utmost importance. Responsibilities include administrative and budget duties in the day-to-day operations of the Department; data entry and maintenance of related database information; handling of department mailings; proofreading and assisting with preparing communication materials within the department.
Responsibilities
- Record all litigation documents in docket database and, under the supervision of the Managing Attorney and Docket Coordinator, calculate procedural due dates.
- Assist with the maintenance of the litigation docket/preparation of documents
- Provide administrative assistance to the Managing Attorney and Assistant Managing Clerk, as well as the Managing Attorney’s Office.
- Serve and file legal documents in various state and federal courts and agencies-electronically and physically
- Generate and proofread requested communications, documents, forms and reports for the Department.
- Create and maintain Department-wide files/libraries/databases. Perform data entry to maintain Department databases, including working with Firm personnel as necessary to ensure accuracy of data.
- Prepare invoices for submission to Finance & Accounting and maintain invoice files.
- Assist in production of Departmental policy/ procedure information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a law firm or corporate environment.
- Proficiency using calendaring or docketing systems, such as MA3000 and eDockets.
- Must have strong computer skills, experience working with Microsoft Office programs and experience with databases
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Strong communication skills: listening, oral and written
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
