Strategic Analysis Specialist

 

Position Summary

The Strategic Analysis Specialist provides financial and other analyses for business development staff, attorneys and department managers, helping to craft recommendations for strategies to drive new business and improve the profitability of the firm’s current business. The position is expected to design and distribute both on-going and ad hoc client and market analysis while managing day-to-day requests and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Use the firm’s financial, marketing and CRM databases to create detailed reports in support of client relationship management efforts, including relationship overviews and on-going performance reports for key clients of the firm.
  • Develop in-depth analysis on a proactive and ad hoc basis of the firm’s current business across practices, offices, industries and geographies to identify ways to expand relationships, attract new business and improve profitability in line with the firm’s strategy and goals.
  • Distill complex financial concepts and reports into readily understood information that can be used by key stakeholders to drive business development and marketing efforts.
  • Educate global marketing staff on methodologies, processes and terminology used by the firm to collect and analyze financial and matter information.
  • Manage outstanding items and processes in coordination with the group’s analyst to ensure timely delivery of high-quality and accurate reporting.
  • Work with the Manager of Strategic Analysis to continually develop and improve innovative product offerings in line with stakeholder and business requirements.

Education/Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field. 

Essential job requirements

  • 2-4 years’ experience in a law firm or similar professional services firm; experience with an international firm preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of the business model of a law firm, the business development concept and the needs and expectations of law firm clients.
  • Ability to distil large sets of data down to key points for distribution to internal clients.
  • Strong understanding of both the global economic environment as well as local markets relevant to the firm’s business, including a familiarity with the firm’s key clients, geographies and industries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, with particular expertise in Excel, including working with pivot tables, SQL queries, v-lookups, macros and other tools relevant to analysis of large sets of data.
  • Comfortable working with colleagues at all levels within the firm; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible self-starter comfortable with tackling new projects independently while also being able to take direction from senior staff.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment, effectively manage time and tight deadlines; able to multitask.
