DEI Business Analyst

Summary

Our client, a top AmLaw firm, seeks a highly motivated Business Analyst to join as a key member of the analytics and reporting function within the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Department. This role will be responsible for responding to requests for diversity metrics from external clients, defining request requirements, scopes, and objectives, and providing quality assurance review of final deliverables. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented, and organized professional with strong written communication skills who excels at managing their time effectively to ensure accurate and timely delivery of data insights.

This position will work closely across functions within the DEI Team and with other internal stakeholders including within Legal Recruiting, Professional Development, Business Development, and Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform robust data analysis to extract meaningful insights, trends, and patterns from multiple data sources.
  • Create visually engaging reports and dashboards to convey complex data in a clear and concise manner, utilizing tools such as Excel, Tableau, or other relevant software.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and quality of data by conducting thorough validation and data cleaning.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to improve data processes across the DEI team.
  • Craft clearly written responses to client and industry survey requests on the firm’s DEI policies and initiatives.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple data requests, ensuring that deadlines are met and stakeholders promptly receive needed information.
  • Liaise between the DEI team and other internal stakeholders across the firm to define DEI project/request requirements, scopes, and objectives.
  • Maintain DEI project/request tracking in our workflow system to monitor overall progress and achievement of milestones.
  • Analyze project/request progress and, when necessary, adapt scope or timeline to achieve optimal results.
  • Report project risks and outcomes to appropriate team leadership, and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Additional duties not listed in the job description as required by business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field. Certification or coursework in data analytics or data science a plus.
  • Three or more years of experience in project management and coordination.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis leveraging tools like Excel and SQL.
  • Proven experience creating compelling presentations in tools such as PowerPoint.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate analysis.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to succinctly communicate complex concepts.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven success in a corporate setting, working with all levels of management.
  • Cross-cultural skills and awareness.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize work efficiently and effectively, and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in a professional services and/or law firm a strong plus.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $87,100 – $122,500, exempt.
