Legal Recruiting Manager

The Legal Recruiting Manager will work under the supervision of the Director of Legal Recruiting and will have primary responsibility for the recruitment of members (partners) firm wide. He or she will manage recruiting department team members, working together to support member hiring. The position is part of the firm’s Legal Recruiting Department and therefore will also be involved in firm wide legal recruiting activities and initiatives to support attorneys throughout the firm.

Responsibilities 

  • Oversight of member recruiting process and supervision of staff.
  • Ensure that the full member candidate cycle (sourcing, interviewing, collecting feedback, candidate analysis, internal and external communications) is efficient, effective, and aligns with the firm’s strategic recruiting plan.
  • Maintain real-time awareness of all candidate activity.
  • Offer input and recommendations on how to approach/proceed with candidates.
  • Supervise, mentor and train Legal Recruiting Coordinators and Specialists to execute on recruiting process.
  • Help manage their performance relative to our strategic goals.
  • Provide back up and support.
  • Manage member candidate diligence.
  • Review lateral member candidate materials and assess compatibility with the firm’s strategic growth priorities.
  • Draft department communications, including but not limited to candidate submissions, interview feedback summaries with recommendations for continued action, and proposals in support of hiring member candidates.
  • Provide concierge-level service to member candidates, acting as a representative and point-person to handle and facilitate all requests and action items.
  • The goal is to provide a best-in-industry candidate experience.
  • Manage data, templates, best practices, and reporting.
  • Ensure all candidate files are accurate and complete, and follow all departmental protocols using the recruiting database (viRecruit) and firm document management system.
  • Administer and maintain recruiting policies, operational procedures, and practices consistent with the objectives of the firm, including in particular the firm’s diversity goals.
  • Serve as “face of the firm” in representing it through consistently positive, professional interactions with both internal and external clients including staff, attorneys of the firm, firm leadership, candidates, law schools, search firms, professional organizations and other entities.
  • Work collaboratively with Legal Recruiting Department staff to support other functional areas, special projects and general department administration.
  • Engage in local and national legal recruiting organizations to support the enhancement of our profession and to represent Firm’s positively in the legal community.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as requested.
  • This role requires 60% in office presence; remote work is permissible 40% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 4+ years professional services recruiting experience required; experience recruiting attorneys at all levels in a law firm environment strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills, sound judgment, ability to motivate and positively influence others, facilitate teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to manage up, down, and laterally within an organization is essential to the success of this role.
  • Prior experience managing staff is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Proven leadership and management abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, performance improvement and separations.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to execute through to completion.

  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint as well as legal recruiting software (viRecruit).
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical.

Salary: $120,000.00-$140,00.00, dependent on experience
