Information Governance Operations Supervisor

A global, law firm consistently ranked among the top firms in the world, is seeking an Information Governance Operations Supervisor to join their dynamic team in either their Austin or Houston office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. 

Summary

As an Information Governance Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Houston & Austin Information Governance Operations teams, including file management (both physical and electronic), file intake, releases, destruction requests, data access requests, case room management and records retention. Other key responsibilities include:

*Please note, this position will require occasional travel to their Houston & Austin offices.

  • Supervising the day-to-day functions of the department; developing plans, organizing electronic and physical files, and assuming responsibility for the completion of department projects
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance the Information Governance program by utilizing a thorough understanding of information management, security, and privacy principles
  • Educating firm personnel regarding the appropriate locations where data should be stored; understanding the firm’s systems and software tools; acting as a resource regarding various information governance questions for staff, attorneys, and other users
  • Supervising and performing all aspects for all information governance processes including file intakes, releases, destructions, and data access requests for the office; ensuring compliance with firm policies, and completion of the relevant process; responding to questions from staff and other users and providing instruction and training as needed
  • Implementing records retention policies and procedures; ascertaining which files are subject to retention; communicating with attorneys and clients regarding the disposition of files; maintaining meticulous records regarding file disposition

  • Display excellent leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving and decision-making) necessary for effective supervision
  • Possess the ability to supervise work of others to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of information governance, data security and privacy principles, best practices, and procedures

And have

  • A Bachelor’s degree; an Advanced degree is preferred, but not required
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant Information Governance or Records experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
  • CRM, IGP and/or CIPP certification

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $115,000.00-$125,000.00, dependent on experience and location
