US IP Patent Paralegal

Summary

A global law firm is conducting a search for an experienced US IP Patents Paralegal to assist attorneys firm-wide in our fast paced IP Patent Group. Candidates should have previous work experience in IP Patents and an in depth understanding of USPTO practices and procedures. Candidates should also possess exceptional organizational skills, a working knowledge of general office procedure and filing techniques, along with a strong attention to detail and the ability to concentrate on competing assigned tasks. This position can be based in the firm’s Atlanta, Charlotte or Raleigh offices. 

Responsibilities

  • Timely handling of various prosecution formalities
  • Communication with clients and foreign associates regarding prosecution of matters
  • Reviewing and maintaining a docket and acting as client relationship manager for various firm clients
  • Preparation and filing of IDS
  • Performing Notice of Allowance and other quality control audits
  • Proofing Patents
  • Assignment projects
  • Intake and transfer work as member of the intake and transfer team
  • Special projects requiring in-depth knowledge of patent prosecution as assigned 

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in US Patent Prosecution
  • Experience in Foreign Patent Prosecution preferred
  • Ability to meet the firm’s paralegal billing goal
  • A Bachelor’s Degree and/or a certified paralegal certificate is required
  • Knowledge of the US Patent and Trademark Office post-grant filing procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal court filing procedures, electronic discovery, cite checking and the ability to conduct database searches utilizing Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, PACER, Relativity, the USPTO website, and other search engines as needed
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous complex tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Work typically requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
  • Ability to travel to private and public buildings, locally and statewide, via private or public conveyance to assist attorney in attending to client needs on legal matters. Position may entail domestic travel.

 

 

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $75,000.00-$100,000.00, dependent on experience
