Forward thinking global, law firm has an exciting opportunity for a BD Coordinator in their Charlotte office!

The Intellectual Property Business Development Coordinator position is responsible for the coordination and successful execution of a variety of IP-centric business development and marketing initiatives.  The IP Business Development Coordinator will research targets, coordinate sponsorships, prepare and coordinate responses to RFPs and requests for pitch materials, brochures and PowerPoint presentations.  All activities entail a high level of attorney contact and visibility, and may include individual attorneys and practice groups within the IP Area, as well as involve cross-practice professionals as needed.  Credentialing activities, such as listing submissions and the completion of related surveys, will be another crucial aspect of the position; backing the IP Marketing Specialist with these important activities as needed.  Working knowledge of legal research tools including: Docket Navigator, Lex Machina, Monitor Suite, Juristat, among others, a plus.

The ideal candidate has law firm or other professional service firm experience, is detail oriented and has excellent communication and follow-up skills. The ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment is essential, as is the ability to multi-task and prioritize. Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial (spelling, grammar usage, writing skills, etc.).   Working knowledge of intellectual property law terms and concepts are a plus.

Essential Duties

  • Work with attorneys to develop customized materials for prospect/client presentations; respond to requests and initiate projects. May involve performing basic industry, prospect, firm experience and competitor research.  Includes copywriting, editing or proofreading materials, recommending changes and working with other business development staff to execute projects in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare marketing materials as requested by attorneys and/or staff. Identify and determine appropriate materials for each request.  Gather and revise, if necessary, existing documents to meet objectives.  Oversee assembly and completion of prototype and secure required approvals.  Ensure on-time delivery of high-quality materials.
  • Track pitch materials after presentation; report results and file as appropriate.
  • Assist with RFP responses by working with attorneys to draft, collect, and/or organize content as received from attorneys. May involve formatting, editing and submitting by deadline.
  • Communication with the Senior IP Marketing Specialist is of utmost importance. Weekly project status updates are required, as well as key information updates more frequently as necessary/requested.
  • Collect and update practice information and documents on SharePoint portal.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of practice information on external web site for all relevant practice groups and sub specialties.
  • Oversee the content of, and update practice group materials as necessary.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of internal and external group events, as assigned.
  • Perform updates to various marketing information systems as assigned.
  • Perform other marketing and business development related responsibilities and projects as necessary.

Additional Information

  • Bachelors’ Degree required with a preference in Marketing, English or Communications. Previous experience of 2-5 years in marketing is required, preferably in a professional services setting
