Knowledge Management Attorney, Compensation, Governance & ERISA

Summary
This opportunity is for a Knowledge Management Attorney supporting the Compensation, Governance & ERISA Practice Group, and will be responsible for (1) drafting client memoranda, articles and blog posts; (2) editing and project managing the team’s contributions to the firm’s annual corporate governance survey; (3) enhancing practice forms, precedents and research materials; (4) tracking, analysing and summarizing changes in existing laws and regulations; (5) preparing and delivering team training programs; (6) being a proactive participant in team marketing; and (7) providing other legal and practical expertise to support the practice, among other duties as assigned. The Knowledge Management Attorney will report directly to the Compensation, Governance & ERISA Practice Group Leader (PGL), Partners, and the Chief Knowledge & Client Value Officer. The Attorney will also work closely with the firm’s Business Development, Marketing, and Technology departments.
Responsibilities
- Assess the relevant knowledge needs of the team, define and implement a plan to meet those needs, and establish mechanisms for regular review of the plan.
- Spearhead regular thought leadership efforts and regular external publications.
- Monitor and keep the team informed about important developments in applicable statutes, regulations, judicial decisions and the business environment through bulletins, training, know-how meetings and other processes.
- Participate in industry events to raise the firm’s profile as a thought leader and keep up to date with developments when feasible.
- Spearhead the team’s contributions to the firm’s annual corporate governance survey—including topic development, review of associates’ research, managing results data base and developing measurement metrics.
- Organize related corporate governance symposium.
- Assist the partners in speaking and publishing regularly on corporate governance topics.
- Create and capture practice-related knowledge content and encourage the sharing of information and knowledge generally.
- Ensure that all models and forms are updated as needed to reflect changes in applicable laws, regulations, market standards and best practices.
- Undertake legal research.
- Coordinate with Knowledge Management Attorneys and Client Value Lawyers across the firm to share ideas and identify projects or thought leadership opportunities that would benefit from a multi-group collaboration.
- Identify practice-related training needs and organize, design and deliver (personally or with others) training.
- Train on how to access knowledge resources in the practice portals and knowledge-based and efficiency tools introduced in the practice.
- Provide direct support to individual practitioners to assist them with locating practice-related internal and external knowledge resources.
- Be a source of legal, market and practical expertise.
- Follow CLE offered in and out of the Firm and drive participation.
- Identify opportunities to develop business from new and existing clients through current events and developments in the area, articles, briefing notes, client training, and other initiatives.
- Develop innovative ideas for using content to identify market trends and use the information as a business development tool.

Education & Experience
- Three or more years of sound legal experience in executive compensation or corporate governance at a large law firm or relevant in-house legal department.
- Excellent academic credentials from a top tier law school.
- D. from an ABA-accredited law school, and must be admitted to practice, in good standing, in the State of New York (pending bar application/admission is acceptable).
