Business Development Assistant – Latin America

Summary

The Business Development Assistant will leverage their research, writing and analytical skills to support the firm’s Latin America practices in executing business development and marketing initiatives.  The assistant will work closely with other members of the Global Business Development team to achieve Firm and office business development goals.

Responsibilities

  • Working with LatAm BD team to conduct research on existing and prospective clients, competitor activity and industry or market trends to aid in the development of marketing plans, pitches, presentations and proposals.
  • Preparing company reports and profiles including background information, advisory relationships and market intelligence utilizing internal and external data sources; and
  • Monitoring and tracking new developments in various industries and geographic regions using internal and external data sources.
  • Assisting with the preparation of pitch material and RFP responses to win new business, including by:
  • Maintaining up-to-date collection of marketing and pitch materials as they relate to the LatAm practices;
  • Compiling initial drafts of pitches; and
  • Maintaining records for, and analyzing outcomes of, pitches and fee proposals.
  • Supporting LatAm BD team members with the preparation of agendas and materials in connection with regular practice group and client team meetings.
  • Entering LatAm BD activities and client intelligence into Firm CRM system.
  • Assisting LatAm BD and PR teams with award submissions and other profile-raising initiatives.
  • Assisting LatAm BD team with compiling directory submissions, including Chambers and Legal 500.
  • Liaising with LatAm BD and Events teams to assist with internal and external events, seminars, webinars and sponsorships.
  • Liaising with LatAm BD, Marketing and Communications teams on website content and other practice-specific content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, liberal arts or related field.
  • One to two years of relevant marketing/business development or paralegal experience. Law firm/professional services or marketing experience is highly desirable.
  • The position requires a proactive and motivated team player. The individual must be able to adapt to change, balance competing demands and manage demands outside of traditional business hours.
  • Native fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese required.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills and the ability to process information from a wide variety of sources.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to work on a team and on own initiative.
  • Experience working independently as well as within cross-functional teams in a collaborative, professional environment.
  • Strong computer skills with various Microsoft programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), CRM and research tools.
  • Expected to monitor emails outside of normal business hours and be available as needed.
