Communications Manager

Summary
An International Law Firm is seeking a Communications Manager to join our Marketing & Business Development department. This position will focus on working with attorneys across all practice areas, industries, and office locations with respect to both internal and external communications activities. This position will interact closely with all members of the firm’s Marketing & Business Development team as well as firm attorneys and outside vendors and resources.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a global communications strategy for the firm
- Draft and manage all internal and external firm announcements
- Own the firm’s online reputation, including website content and social media strategy, and stakeholder engagement
- Proactively find and pitch attorney article and speaking topics and opportunities, as well as manage the strategic distribution of content
- Work collaboratively with our external PR agency and independently develop relationships with relevant media, organizations, and publications
- Manage the drafting of all legal rankings and awards submissions for the firm
- Cultivate and leverage understanding of the legal industry, trends, and the firm’s strategic goals to shape communications and media efforts
- Work closely with the HR and Marketing departments on cross-department initiatives including improving internal communications, developing an intranet, etc.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of and act as firm resource regarding attorney expertise, practice group expertise, client base, firm experience and history, industry/trade group organizations, legal, industry and business trends, practice-specific marketing materials, and practice-specific media
- Develop strong working relationships with key partners in all practice groups and offices, the members of the Marketing & Business Development team, as well as external vendors, media contacts, etc.
- Available to handle time-sensitive requests during hours outside of the workday
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college or university required
- Knowledge of and interest in the legal industry and 3-5 years prior experience in a professional services firm or PR agency
- Exceptional written and verbal storytelling skills
- Exceptional proofreading skills
- Knowledge of content hierarchy
- Experience running social media platforms and email marketing software
- Excellent project management skills and organizational ability
- Demonstrated attention to detail; consistently polished work product
- Demonstrated competency with PC applications, including Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Intellectually curious, motivated, team player with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Ability to work independently without direct guidance on recurring assigned tasks
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects with little direction
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
