Summary
The Intellectual Property Legal Executive Assistant (IP LEA) needs to be a seasoned assistant to support a combination of partners, associates, and paralegals in the IP Litigation practice areas in the New York City office. This is a busy desk and requires someone with strong litigation experience who is extremely organized and has the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Qualified candidates will be polished and professional and have excellent customer service skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule and calendar appointments, conferences, depositions, and attorney/client meetings
- Coordinate travel (including international) arrangements and itineraries
- Preparing and editing legal briefs, memoranda, correspondence, and documents, particularly litigation related
- Heavy, direct and sometimes independent contact with clients, courts, and other attorneys
- Assisting with court filings, including electronic filings
- Answering and directing telephone calls, retrieving and delivering voice mail messages
- Extensive involvement in billing, including drilling down on billing details
- Assist in entering attorney time
- Maintaining litigation dockets
- Maintain client files, particularly litigation case files
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of legal secretarial experience, with experience supporting litigation attorneys; some experience with IP litigation is necessary
- Discretion with confidential information
- Positive, pro-active, professional attitude with the ability to perform without supervision
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Superior technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite 2010 applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent proofreading skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Trial experience a plus
