An Am Law 50 law firm with offices worldwide, has an opening for a Director of Public Relations within their Marketing Department in their New York, NY, Washington, DC or San Francisco, CA office.
The Opportunity
- Join an Am Law 50 law firm’s Global Marketing Team as Director of Public relations! The Director is responsible for managing, directing, and overseeing all public relations staff and activities for the Firm.
- The Director partners with firmwide management and the relevant practice and regional leadership to develop, implement, and manage:
- PR strategies, on a national and regional level, domestically and internationally
- An external communications strategy for the Firm with respect to all announcements and activities, including the internal communications and website content associated with external events and announcements;
- Media relations
- The effective use of legal rankings, listings and directories to favorably position the firm and its partners in both the legal industry and across all business sectors as needed
- The internal PR team
- Selected external vendors and consultants
Ideal Candidate
Education and Experience
- Creative, self-motivated, organized, energetic, positive and ambitious person with a minimum of 10+ years’ experience in public relations or corporate communications positions, preferably in a large, global law firm.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of corporate communications, finance/transactional PR, investor relations and crisis management.
Teamwork and Applied Skills
- Ability to take ownership and develop and lead a strong and meaningful public relations strategy.
- Ability to function persuasively and effectively in a consensus-driven culture.
- Supervisory /management experience.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and exceptional writing abilities.
- Ability to flourish in a team environment and to form effective working relationships with individuals at all levels.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects and deadlines, effectively manage changing priorities and adjust to program activities accordingly.
- Self-starter with an excellent work ethic and a positive, proactive style.
- Ability to establish credibility quickly with senior management team.
