Senior Litigation Paralegal

Hours 9:30am-5:30pm

Summary

Assist with the management of a heavy litigation docket that encompasses the complete range of a litigation life cycle.  Demonstrate expert competency in all paralegal functions including those related to case management, document collections and productions, deposition and witness interviews, court filings and trial coordination.

Responsibilities 

  • Efficiently manage and balance a heavy case load and appropriately prioritize work.  Supervise junior team members and assume responsibility for all paralegal workflow and work product.
  • Manage the initial organization of a case and advise junior members of the department on best practices.
  • Facilitate orderly case administration and reporting through implementation of internal matter management tools and systems.
  • Lead projects relating to privilege and redaction logs, deposition and witness interview preparation, including organization and preparation of exhibits.
  • Lead paralegal teams on large, complex and high-profile trials.  Oversee all aspects of the trial “war room” including interfacing with third party-vendors on trial-related issues.
  • Take lead in working with attorneys and the Managing Attorney’s Office in the preparation and filing of court documents.
  • Establish strong working relationships with internal clients, as well as in-house and outside counsel.
  • Establish and maintain best practices in processes that affect paralegal workflow.  Participate in beta testing of new databases and internal processes.
  • Active participation in activities aimed at improving the paralegal department as a whole, including training and mentoring junior colleagues and involvement with department initiatives.  Participation in biannual paralegal evaluation process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 6-10 years of litigation experience, including extensive prior trial experience
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to lead junior paralegals
  • Professionalism when handling confidential information
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent organizational, computer and documentation skills and an ability to prioritize effectively
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and related software
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of firm management, internal and external clients, and outside counsel
  • Ability to adapt to and support differing attorney and team work styles
  • Ability to work extensive overtime to meet team and firm needs
