Summary
Support the Director, Business Development – Corporate with coordination and implementation of business development programs and projects from initial strategy through monitoring and completion. This includes conducting research and analysis to identify prospective clients and working with various members of the business development team to plan and design marketing initiatives targeted toward obtaining clients. The Coordinator will also be responsible for conducting relevant industry research or target-specific research for purposes of planning business marketing pitches, drafting and tailoring business development materials and responses to RFPs for particular industries or targets, as well as researching and analyzing profile-raising opportunities and preparing submissions for legal guides and award opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities and/or Essential functions
- Coordinate the creation of pitch materials and oversee document production process, including helping update and maintain frequently used collateral material (e.g. attorney biographies, practice and industry descriptions and experience lists, etc.).
- Assist with reporting deals to the various league tables and liaise with the Firm’s contacts at the various league table providers to ensure that we are credited timely and correctly.
- Assist the public relations team and deal reporting analyst to ensure information about our rankings is posted appropriately on Firm website.
- Update and maintain deals database.
- Help review and analyze client, market data, and industry research for pitch and other client meetings.
- Identify cross-practice business development initiatives.
- Research and secure information from other major data compilers for marketing and business development, including wins tracking and CRM system.
- Contribute to strategy development and implementation of plans for Corporate practices.
- Liaise with other teams, including Deal Reporting, Events and Digital Content in the Business Development Department on various client-focused projects.
- Act as a resource for the Department and lawyers on the varying criteria for each of the league tables.
- Pull, analyze and utilize deals data from a variety of databases for competitive analysis.
- Any other responsibilities or special projects as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum 2 years of corporate experience at a peer law firm preferred.
- Mergermarket, Thomson and Bloomberg experience preferred.
- Strong writing, editing, analytical and researching skills; ability to synthesize data and accurately capture it in a narrative.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment; must possess a very strong attention to detail and a professional demeanor.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours and on weekends as required.
- Self-motivated, with excellent time management, project management skills and sound judgment required.
- Positive attitude and ability to coordinate efforts with others in department as a solid team player.
- Excellent computer skills in Word, PowerPoint and Excel are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
