Business Analyst, M&A

Role Summary

The Business Analyst, M&A, assists in managing the tracking and maintenance of transactional information for the Global M&A Practice Group as well as with executing its Worldwide deal tracking/knowledge management platform. In addition, they will assistant on financial/operational matters at the direction of the Global Business Director for Corporate. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the activities surrounding the tracking, maintenance and review of transactional information for M&A worldwide in GEM, our deal tracking system for the Global M&A Practice Group. This includes correspondence and follow-up with associates in all international offices across time zones to review entries in the database quarterly, through the Transaction Memo Review process.
  • Coordinate the reporting of firm-wide transactional information to media entities (i.e. Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, Mergermarket, Corporate Control Alert, Dealogic, Corpfin, DealWatch, Venture Intelligence and Zephyr) in a timely fashion. Analyze and resolve transactional discrepancies and rejected deals with media entities in order to maximize the number of deals they accept and increase rankings around the globe.
  • Generate data and analyze the M&A group’s performance quarterly for internal records-keeping and approval from the Global Head of M&A to be published externally.
  • Generate data and analyze the M&A group’s performance in all regions quarterly for internal records-keeping, publication in Firms marketing/business development effort and to assist the Practice Group Leader in making key business decisions for the group.
  • Craft and execute deal searches and pull deal lists in GEM for precedent use, marketing purposes, partner client pitches and website updates.
  • Assist in executing the practice group’s internal knowledge management systems including Knowledge Center (KC), WaterCooler, internal intranet, Forms Library and MARS Reports. This includes coordinating meetings, corresponding with the Knowledge Management team, and leading/managing projects to improve the M&A group’s knowledge platforms.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new joiners to the M&A group by leading training sessions and understanding all of the group’s available resources.
  • Assist with firm-related projects at the direction of the Manager.
  • Assist with financial/operational matters at the direction of the Business Unit Director.

Education & Experience (Essential)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with an interest in M&A business or legal field.
