Summary

An Am Law 50 law firm with offices worldwide, has an opening for a Privacy and Data Security Analyst for their San Francisco, Denver or New York offices.

The Opportunity 

• Develop and implement plans to operationalize data privacy requirements across the Firm. Work with privacy counsel, general counsel, functional staff leaders and office administrators to establish and drive policies, procedure and best practices.
• Monitor and research national, regional and international data privacy and security laws in conjunction with local counsel.  Maintain up-to-date knowledge as laws and regulations evolve, and the needs of the Firm change over time. Proactively identify risks and develop plans to mitigate.
• Collaborate as an advisor in compliance and operational capacities to all offices and all locations where we conduct business.
• Engage as a member of the Firm’s privacy governance structure working with the Chief Human Resources and Administrative Office, General Counsel and Privacy Counsel.
• Develop and deliver training to staff and attorneys on established privacy and data security practices and materials. Provide specialized training for high risk groups (HR, Finance etc.).
• Collaborate with Procurement and Contracts team as a stakeholder in vendor selection, negotiation and the compliance processes.
• Create and lead reporting and audit practices to ensure the Firm is complying with laws and established policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with Conflicts/New Business team to review outside counsel guidelines and ensure compliance to global data privacy laws.
• Work with Information Technology team and resources to drive the Firm’s Information Security review and process.

Ideal Candidate       

• Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree a plus.
• Ten or more years’ experience in a business environment.
• Five or more years’ experience managing matters focused on data privacy and security.
