Director of Legal Recruiting

Summary
The Director of Legal Recruiting is responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategies and processes, with a particular emphasis on lateral partner hiring. Working closely with department and practice group leadership, the Director oversees the hiring of lateral partners, lateral associates, and summer associates across the Firm’s offices. Duties also include developing and maintaining effective onboarding and integration programs for new lawyers. The Director of Legal Recruiting will collaborate with the Director of Equity, Inclusion & Diversity to grow, create, and manage diversity recruiting initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of lateral partner and group recruiting in all offices, including serving as a representative for candidates and search firms and driving internal discussions and due diligence.
- Work with the Hiring Partner, Practice Group Leaders, and Managing Directors to further align lateral recruiting efforts with the Firm’s business objectives.
- Maintain and cultivate deep and extensive contacts with global search firms. Stay current on strategic direction of practice groups and build strong relationships with lawyers across the Firm to understand current and future workforce needs.
- Work with Director of Marketing & Business Development to shape marketing collateral to attract candidates and develop proposed business plans for targeted candidates.
- Monitor market trends and keep Firm management apprised of trends in attracting and retaining top talent, and other relative industry intelligence.
- Work with Diversity Partner and Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to help implement the Firm’s diversity initiatives, including the Social Mobility Fellowship.
- Partner with Human Resources, Business Development & Marketing, Professional Development,
- IT/Records, Intake, and Finance teams on lateral partner on-boarding and integration.
- Track metrics and recruiting analytics to ensure meeting Firm’s strategic recruiting goals.
- Manage direct reports and the day-to-day functions of the recruiting process.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (JD preferred but not required).
- Minimum of ten years recruiting experience in a global law firm (preferred) or legal/professional services environment.
- Ability and flexibility to problem solve and handle difficult situations professionally and tactfully.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and strong work ethic.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated team player and ability to multi-task.
- Experience with leveraging social media in conjunction with lawyer hiring.
- Ability to respect, protect and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Detailed knowledge of Lawcruit or viDesktop / viRecruit (viRecruit a plus), or other familiarity with applicant tracking systems. Excellent computer knowledge, including superb knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and ability to adapt to new software.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel as needed. The Firm has offices in Boston, Hartford, London, New York, Orange County, Paris, Providence, and Washington, DC.
