Lateral Partner Recruiting Manager

Summary

Based in the New York or Washington D.C. office, provides support to all ten of the firm’s U.S. offices, primarily through remote means, as well as to the firm’s ten non-U.S. offices as needed.

Works with Managing Partner, Executive Director, U.S. Offices, Partners-in-Charge, Chief Recruiting Officer and Practice Leaders to facilitate lateral partner hiring process, from receiving and vetting a need to outreach to potential candidates and search firms to screening and fulsome interview scheduling to collecting and collating partner comments to collecting candidate documents to preparing lateral partner candidate packet; interacts with and shepherds lateral partner candidates through lateral partner hiring process; develops and implements effective recruiting strategies for achieving hiring goals; manages search firm fee agreements for partners; oversees process to ensure consistency and adherence to recruiting policies including risk management due diligence; provides assistance as needed to the individuals in the office who perform associate- and Of Counsel-related recruiting functions. 

Principal responsibilities will include the following:

  • Work effectively with U.S. offices and practice group leaders, Executive Director, Managing Partner, Office Administrators, and firm wide directors to ensure a smooth and efficient lateral partner diligence and hiring process.
  • Set and coordinate interview, travel, and other schedules for all lateral partner candidates interviewing in U.S. offices.
  • Collect interview comments and candidate documents and assemble lateral partner packets for consideration by firm management and the lateral partner committee.
  • Work with relevant partners to identify lateral partner candidates in relevant practice areas or to reactively present lateral partner candidates in relevant markets and/or practice areas.
  • Work with office personnel to coordinate and administrate the recruitment of partner candidates.
  • Administer and maintain recruiting policies, procedures and practices consistent with the goals and objectives of the firm.
  • Establish and maintain search firm relationships including oversight of the negotiation, review and approval of fee agreement contracts, retainers and exclusivity agreements, with approval of Chief Recruiting Officer.
  • Ensure offer letters/contracts are consistent with firm policies and local legal requirements.
  • Monitor offers and follow-up efforts.
  • Keep management informed regarding the status of all searches. Regularly prepare and distribute reports on hiring activity and progress in achieving goals.
  • Keep apprised of legal requirements and regulations affecting recruiting policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure that the offices consistently maintain candidate files and records and are in compliance with Firm’s Human Resources policies.
  • Provide support to personnel involved in recruiting efforts and keep them apprised of changes in policy, new developments, etc.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university.
  • 3+ years prior legal recruiting experience preferred.
