Client Relationship Specialist, Financial Services

Summary

The Client Relationship Specialist will focus on providing support to the firm’s Financial Services industry.  The Client Relationship Specialist will assist and work in collaboration with the Senior Client Relationship Executive to support the firm’s core 6 key financial services industry clients, and our next 20 tier 1 client base. The main duties and responsibilities are outlined below:

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Senior Client Relationship Executive and key client Relationship Partners, devise strategies for each client, which will include financial targets, short term and long term objectives, relationship mapping and actions.
  • Drive client plans and key action items via quarterly team meetings.
  • Collaborate with global business development colleagues in core practice areas such as capital markets, finance, regulatory and litigation; maintain effective two-way communication regarding client expectations to ensure insightful reporting on relevant activities. Submit findings to respective clients quarterly or semi-annually, depending on the client.
  • Utilize project management techniques to support the Senior Client Relationship Executive and client Relationship Partners in the preparation of bank panel pitches and other important industry and key client pitches.
  • Monitor our Financial Services mailbox for incoming inquires.
  • Work with the Senior Client Relationship Executive to support the Financial Services industry’s client feedback program for the firm’s core 6 key clients and tier 20 banks. Provide feedback to the Industry Leaders and respective Relationship Partners on results, trends and follow-up actions.
  • Support the Financial Services industry secondment program, which includes monitoring and reporting the firm’s obligations with each bank, communicating with HR about outgoing and returning secondees, briefing associates on program expectations and on the client before going on secondment.
  • Work in partnership with the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion, Corporate Social Responsibility and Pro Bono teams to ensure key bank clients are engaged with innovative and consistent programming.
  • Research, analyze and compile targeted reports on competitive market position for the financial services industry, e.g. the firm’s market share; ‘share of spend’, considering key clients, panel position, client segmentation, etc.
  • Maintain action items and important notes for key clients; develop a dashboard for each key client to track progress, identify opportunities and begin the process of compiling metrics; distribute monthly updates to the respective coverage teams.
  • Work with members of the business development, marketing, design and communications teams to ensure the content of brochures, collateral, and on industry-related sites is up to date.
  • Research and implement best practices for client relationship management, maximizing the success of client related opportunities.  Act as an advocate for best practices by training and coaching lawyers, among other related activities.
  • Provide back-up support for FinTech industry efforts, if and when needed.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of frontline work experience combining financial services industry knowledge, client relationship management and business development expertise.
  • Experience working in an international law firm or professional services environment is preferred.
  • 4 year college degree or equivalent required.
  • Relevant graduate degree a plus.
  • Experience with client feedback reviews preferred.
  • Experience with planning and preparing pitches, client reporting, presentations and other materials required.
  • Experience working across variety of office locations, cultures and time zones. Advanced knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, InterAction; familiarity with any desktop publishing software or other CRM systems such as Salesforce a plus.
