Intellectual Property Litigation Paralegal

Summary
This position requires a well-organized and independent paralegal to provide support to the attorneys in the Intellectual Property – Litigation Practice Group. Expected to bill a minimum of 1500 hours annually. Overtime work may occur with this position especially during high peak times for trial preparation and attendance.
Functions
- Prepare case specific workbooks, witness files and binders for depositions and trial preparation.
- Prepare documents for discovery in paper and electronic formats in response to opposing counsel requests.
- Assist in trial preparation and attendance at trial and hearings, including experience in using trial presentation software. Manage large case files including discovery documents, pleadings and correspondence files while serving as a key contributor on case teams by anticipating case needs and proactively completely tasks as needed.
- Assist with brief preparation including cite-checking, blue booking and exhibit identification and organization including court filing procedures.
- Coordinate efficient flow of information between Firm lawyers, co-counsel and clients.
- Obtain client documents, public records and other factual information via Internet, PACER and various government agencies.
- Work closely with internal eDiscovery Team and outside vendors for electronic litigation support.
- Practices and fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation.
- Performs any and all other duties as necessary and as assigned by your supervisor for efficient functioning of the Department, Office and Firm.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree, Paralegal Certificate and seven+ years’ experience working in a litigation practice with trial experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to work directly with partners, associates, co-counsel and clients.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong and effective written and oral communication.
- Displays initiative and a proactive work ethic.
- Strong attention to detail, follow up and ability to understand instructions and follow through with assignments.
- Ability to multi-task and to manage time effectively to meet objectives. Ability to think critically and analytically in a pressured environment and fast-paced settings.
- Ability to engage firm resources in the completion of large projects, including addressing complex problems and suggesting efficient solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, I Manage/Worksite/Share Point and familiarity with computerized litigation databases (Relativity and Case Notebook a plus).
- Superior proofreading and research skills including electronic research using Westlaw and/or Lexis.
