Summary
This position is responsible for the day to day processing, routing, and distribution of research materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives new periodical and newspaper issues (online and print), checks them into the ILS (integrated library system) and prepares and sends for routing.
- Orders, materials, receives new items and checks them into the ILS
- Orders, labels and distributes deskbooks
- Deals with vendors to resolve missing issues, subscription, and billing problems
- Creates and maintains distribution lists for routing purposes, electronically and print
- Creates catalog records for new periodicals
- Maintains periodicals database in the firm’s document management system
- Maintains news server watches, adds and deletes users
- Monitors and posts stories about the firm to the intranet homepage
- Assists with filing pocket parts
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Experience with legal materials and using an automated technical services system. Experience with SirsiDynix Horizon a plus
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Acrobat
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a highly pressured environment
- Ability to multi-task and to complete tasks in a timely manner
- Detail oriented
Education and Experience
- High school graduate; college or some college preferred
Working Conditions
- Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like
