Trademark Enforcement Paralegal

A well-known global apparel company has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and professional Trademark Paralegal with 8-10+ years of experience to support our Legal Department full-time. This position is a key part of the legal team that supports the apparel company’s global brand and intellectual property groups. The individual will focus on online intellectual property monitoring and enforcement in the areas of e-commerce (consumer products: e.g. Amazon, eBay, Alibaba etc.) and social media platforms (YouTube, Weibo, Instagram etc.). The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to understand and effectively deal with a variety of legal issues relating to trademark infringement and anti-counterfeiting. This position works closely with the Head of Legal Operations and other legal and business professionals and communicates regularly with outside parties. Good interpersonal and organizational skills, proactive attitude, enthusiasm, attention to detail and a sense of humor are paramount. Established relationships in the IP enforcement area are a plus.
What you will be doing:
- Investigating possible Intellectual Property infringement matters and third-party references;
- File takedown notices on e-commerce and social media platforms;
- Drafting various cease and desist letters regarding infringement, cybersquatting and following up with filing of ICANN proceedings as necessary;
- Assist with internet disputes and the enforcement of domain name registrations and transfers;
- Monitor trademark, copyright, and patent infringement matters including assisting outside counsel with enforcement actions; and
- Perform legal research via on-line services; and respond to communications or correspondence from clients, outside counsel, and other parties.
What we want you to bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal certificate from accredited program;
- 8-10+ years of experience at a law firm or corporate law department as a paralegal handling high -level responsibilities on trademark and copyright enforcement matters, anti-counterfeit enforcement and cease and desist letters;
- Strong academic credentials;
- Detailed-oriented, self-starter, problem-solver, strong analytical, organizational, and case management skills;
- Ability to work independently, consistently plan, organize, critical thinking, meet deadlines and remain flexible in a multi-task and fast-pace environment;
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills with clients, outside vendors, and other parties;
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership, personal responsibility for performing tasks and resolving issues;
- Skilled conducting online trademark searches;
- General knowledge of domestic and foreign trademark, copyright law, DMCA policies and processes;
- Proficiency with MS Office products, particularly MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Experience working with Brand Protection companies including CSC, MarkMonitor etc., Customs/Law Enforcement and or investigators;
- Familiarity with WebTMS trademark management system and Gmail desired; and
- Proficiency with WestLaw or similar legal research software preferred.
