IS Project Management Director

Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, the IS PM Director provides leadership to a team of in-house project managers and business analysts in the development of new or enhanced products and services that align with the firm’s business priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists senior IS management in identifying, selecting and prioritizing project portfolio.
  • Ability to oversee and manage a portfolio of up to fifty (50) medium to large-scale inter-disciplinary projects/programs.
  • Maintains effective communication with senior management, providing them with reports on both portfolio and projects; analyzes reports for issues that may have an affect on portfolio/project success; offers action plans for addressing those issues.
  • Oversees development and deployment of project management competencies, processes, standards, methodologies and tools.
  • Continually evaluates both individual and overall enterprise project management maturity level; defines course of action for continually evolving that maturity level.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Requires a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with strong project/program management ability.
  • Requires 10+ years of managing complex technology projects in a fast-paced, political, highly matrixed environment.
  • Ability to implement a selective and practical approach of all PM knowledge areas appropriate for the organization and the individual project.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information in a concise manner and to make recommendations on strategies to resolve issues.
  • Must have an extremely high degree of both organizational skills and logic sequencing.
  • Demonstrated mastery of planning and facilitating meetings.
  • Demonstrated mastery of presentation and written communication skills.
  • Must be extremely results oriented with little input from others
  • Ability to de-escalate, mediate and negotiate with individuals within a context of political sensitivity and conflicting interests, both internal, and external, to the organization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; the ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of project management expertise.
  • Must be extremely team-oriented and willing to place the needs of the team before the needs of the individual.
  • Six Sigma, Business Analysis and Business Process Management skills are preferred.
  • Normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Flexibility to work overtime outside of regular business hours as necessary and at times, with short notice.
