Trademark Paralegal

A well-known global retailer has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and professional Trademark Paralegal with 10+ years of experience to support our Legal Department. This position is a key part of the legal team that supports the retailer’s global brand and intellectual property groups. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to understand and effectively deal with a variety of legal issues relating to trademark infringement and anti-counterfeiting. This position works closely with the Head of Legal Operations and other legal and business professionals and communicates regularly with outside parties. Good interpersonal and organizational skills, proactive attitude, enthusiasm, attention to detail and a sense of humor are paramount.
Responsibilities
- Investigating possible infringement;
- File takedown notices on e-commerce and social media platforms;
- Drafting various cease and desist letters regarding infringement, cybersquatting and following up with filing of ICANN proceedings as necessary;
- Assist with Internet disputes and the enforcement of domain name registrations and transfers;
- Monitor trademark, copyright, and patent infringement matters including assisting outside counsel with enforcement actions;
- Perform legal research via on-line services; and respond to communications or correspondence from clients, outside counsel, and other parties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal certificate from accredited program;
- 10+ years of experience at a law firm or corporate law department as a paralegal handling high -level responsibilities, on trademark and copyright enforcement matters: including global portfolio management and anti-counterfeit enforcement;
- Focus is online intellectual property enforcement of their consumer products;
- Ideal individual would have established relationships with e-commerce providers such as: Amazon, eBay, Alibaba and etc.
- The individual should have relationships with social media platforms like, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram;
- Strong academic credentials;
- Detailed-oriented, self-starter, problem-solver, strong analytical, organizational, and case management skills;
- Ability to work independently, consistently plan, organize, critical thinking, meet deadlines and remain flexible in a multi-task environment;
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills with clients, outside vendors, and other parties;
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership, personal responsibility for performing tasks and resolving issues;
- Adept at conducting online trademark searches;
- General knowledge of domestic and foreign trademark law, policies and processes;
- Proficiency with MS Office products, particularly MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Familiarity with WebTMS trademark management system and Gmail desired; and
- Proficiency with WestLaw or similar legal research software preferred.
