Business Development Specialist, LatAm, Mining and Minerals

Summary
The Business Development Specialist works closely with the BD Manager, Latin America to develop and execute Latin America practice and Mining & Metals industry group initiatives, and project manage the Client Insights initiative. The BD Specialist will also work closely with the global BD team, lawyers across industries, practice groups, and offices, and other business services colleagues on a regular basis. This position reports directly to the firm’s Business Development Manager for Latin America and Mining & Metals.
Key Responsibilities
- Create pitches, presentations and other marketing materials specific to client and industry, competitors and internal financial analysis.
- Maintain and update industry matter lists across practice groups, win/loss records for pitches, and information for relevant internet and intranet sites.
- Organize and arrange activities for clients and industry teams (including conducting research, organizing meetings, developing actions plans, in-house and external events).
• Maintain and update client feedback tracker, questions, and materials. Track and catalogue all client feedback-related activities and materials.
• Work with partners and other business development colleagues in support of client development plans and proactively drive the vision for the Latin America practice and Mining & Metals groups.
• Research and compile targeted reports on markets, clients, competitors and internal financial analysis.
• Assist with the maintenance of business development action items for key clients; develop a dashboard for each key client to help track progress, identify opportunities and begin process of building out metrics; distribute monthly report to the respective coverage team.
• Coordinate coverage team meetings; take notes and distribute discussion points.
• Update contact and activity information into InterAction and other internal and external relationship management tools. Build-out relationship mapping for key clients in industry to help track activity against current contacts versus prospects.
• Help identify appropriate industry events and conferences; track ROI and follow-ups.
• Research and gather business intelligence about key trends in the Latin America practice and Mining & Metals industry and for key clients. - Create newsletters on noteworthy industry and region news, industry and region trends, and client-specific news alerts
• Research competitive intelligence using external and internal research and financial databases.
• Ensure industry and practice-related collateral (brochures, capability presentations, web content) and noteworthy deal lists are reviewed, tracked and updated on a regularly and quarterly basis.

• Ability to synthesize research from various sources in order to provide sophisticated reports in a format that is effective for partners
• Strong aptitude for using financial/research databases (e.g., Capital IQ, Hoovers, Thomson One, FactSet, etc.)
• Ability to produce executive-level and client-facing pitch and proposal presentations and other marketing materials
• Clear, straightforward written and oral communication skills, including use of excellent grammar
• Sound business judgment and problem-solving skills
• Highly-organized with ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred
- 3+ year work experience
- Proven research and analysis capabilities
- Good knowledge of global financial markets, corporate business market, legal market and industry trends
- Previous experience working in a law firm environment is preferred
