Business Development/Marketing Department
Reports to: Litigation Department Co-Chairs
Position Summary
Support the Litigation Department in developing and executing the department’s business development efforts for the New York and Newark offices.
Principal Responsibilities
- Play a lead role in the department’s marketing efforts. This responsibility includes coordinating efforts between practice groups within the department and with other departments in the firm to drive cross-selling.
- Assist the attorneys in their business development efforts. This responsibility includes performing research on industry trends and prospective clients, and identifying any issue that may impact upon a client’s business.
- Ensure that the marketing materials for the department, including individual practice groups, are up to date, accurate and complete. This responsibility includes working with other members of the Business Development Department to gather, organize and post matter information, and news, events, and publication details.
- Draft pitches and proposals, including responses to RFPs, assist attorneys with client education and other outreach and “client care” activities, such as alerts and educational presentations.
- Prepare and submit responses to league table and lawyer guide survey requests.

- Be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Work well in a team environment. The successful candidate will be expected to work with an existing team of professionals in the Business Development Department.
- Have a college degree with at least 3 years of work experience; law firm preferred but not required.
- Be an excellent writer and editor and be able to translate legal topics into plain English, write promotional and educational material from scratch, and proofread.
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to follow instructions from a diverse group of attorneys and staff.
- Be proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw, and general internet research.

Salary: Competitive market compensation, dependent on experience
