Summary

Work with the Human Resources Director to maintain a work environment that promotes a professional atmosphere and employment opportunities in which all individuals are treated with respect. 

Responsibilities

  • Coaches administrative department managers on employee relations issues.
  • Coaches and counsels employees with regards to their work performance in order to meet department and Firm standards.
  • Reviews and/or prepares and presents progressive discipline documentation to employees up to and including termination.
  • Reviews annual appraisals for administrative staff. Process includes several review periods ensuring that all non-exempt and exempt level staff reviews are written properly.  Provide managers guidance on editing reviews; assist with delivering difficult reviews; and, ensure all reviews are prepared and delivered on time.
  • Reviews compensation of administrative staff to ensure fair and competitive salaries.
  • Participates in HR Manager’s group to help ensure best practices are being implemented. Hold monthly lunches and bring managers together to discuss key issues that need to be addressed or better explained.
  • Reviews Firm and department policies to ensure fair and equitable treatment for all employees. Ensures that all Firm policies are up to date and in accordance to the changing laws.
  • Coordinates with the Recruiting Manager to oversee the administrative recruiting function and communicate with department managers to assess staffing needs, as needed.
  • Interviews manager and director level administrative positions to ensure that we are hiring managers that will be successful at the Firm.
  • Participates in HR related projects, with the HR Director as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: 5+ years’ experience in Human Resources including experience in high volume recruiting and employee relations.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of HR laws and procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Federal, State and City human rights laws as they relate to employment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.

  • Able to work well under pressure and coordinate several activities at one time.
  • Able to deal discreetly with confidential information.

Technical Skills

  • PeopleSoft, IBM Notes, Microsoft Word and Excel
