Communications Coordinator

A global, forward thinking, AmLaw 50 firm that has been ranked by Fortune magazine as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For©” for 19 years in a row seeks a Communications Coordinator to support the firm’s day-to-day media relations, social, and other communications needs. Based in either New York or Atlanta and reporting to the firm’s communications leader, the position offers an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic and progressive team.  

Essential Duties

  • Working closely with our communications leader, provide day-to-day support on all aspects of media relations, including drafting press releases (lateral hires, client successes, office moves, etc.), identifying story ideas, conducting media pitching, arranging background briefings, and fielding/vetting reporter queries.
  • Serve as a liaison to and help manage the firm’s external PR agency.
  • Create engaging content for the firm’s LinkedIn and Twitter social media platforms, and provide social communications support to individual lawyers as needed.
  • Track firm and attorney media mentions and convert them into content for the firm’s website, social channels, and other communications platforms.
  • Assist in developing content for surveys and award submissions.
  • Support internal communications as needed, including drafting content for chairman’s office communications.

Skills Needed to be Successful

  • Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis in public relations, journalism, communications, or marketing (required).
  • Minimum of three years of professional services work experience in communications and/or media relations, preferably for a law firm.
  • Working knowledge of media relations principles, procedures, and concepts.
  • Well versed in social media strategy, tactics, and execution.
  • Superb writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Superior organizational skills and strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of Meltwater, Hootsuite, PRNewswire, and other media relations technologies.
  • Travel to other firm offices as needed but not frequent.
