Senior Tax Manager/Director

A leading, forward thinking, global, law firm is seeking a Senior Tax Manager/Director for its Los Angeles or New York office. The Senior Tax Manager/Director oversees all functions related to the preparation, filing, and auditing of the Firm tax returns and tax-related functions.
In this capacity, the Senior Tax Manager/Director will:
- Direct and oversee tax policies and objectives including tax return preparation for all of the US Federal and state, and foreign tax returns;
- Monitor reporting & planning to ensure compliance with applicable tax statutes;
- Provide leadership to professional staff as needed;
- Be accountable for the accuracy of all compliance related tax requirements both domestic and internationally;
- Be able to effectively communicate with Partners, Senior Leadership and service providers;
- Oversee quarterly tax projections for partners, including special projections for PCs;
- Approve partner non-reimbursed expense submissions;
- Serve as the point-of-contact for questions related to foreign tax issues;
- Oversee tax audits that may occur;
- Provide documents and prepare tax projections for lateral and newly elected partners;
- Prepare plan schedules as requested;
- Consult and oversee the tax-related components of new Firm initiatives;
- Implement changes as required by tax law updates;
- Prepare income verification letters;
- Handle composite taxes for withdrawn partners;
- Oversee capital returns, maintain capital schedules and capital due schedule upload;
- Review DB withdrawal statements sent from Firmwide Benefits;
- Review monthly guaranteed payment schedule;
- Partner with the workers’ compensation auditor annually during the renewal review;
- Upload projected cash flow schedule at the complete of the plan;
- Work beyond scheduled hours as required; and
- Handle additional related projects as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field;
- Certified Public Accountant credential (preferred);
- Broad US and International Tax experience required;
- At least 7 years of Tax Management experience;
- At least 4 years of experience in a professional services or legal environment (preferred);
- Advanced knowledge of US and International tax concepts;
- Advanced proficiency in compliance and reporting;
- Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of accounting;
- Excellent communications skills;
- Advanced ability to perform critical analysis, prioritize, and problem solve;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to establish and build relationships across the Firm; and
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite applications.
