Public Relations & Communications Specialist

Summary
The Public Relations & Communications Specialist will work with the PR team on all aspects of communications activity at the Firm, including media relations, content development, speaking engagements, internal communications and social media.
Responsibilities
- Serving as a press contact for reporter requests and outreach, including fielding/vetting inquiries;
- Identifying story ideas/opportunities for press engagement and facilitating background introductions;
- Assisting with creating and implementing effective PR campaigns aligned with strategic firmwide business development objectives;
- Preparing lawyers for interviews or speaking engagements with advance background materials, talking points and sometimes in-person coaching;
- Writing, editing and issuing press and website announcements, including those related to breaking news on deals or cases;
- Assisting the Manager of Public Relations & Communications in managing media engagement around crisis needs;
- Overseeing the pitching and placement of bylined articles in appropriate publications;
- Reviewing and developing content for the Firm’s social media pages and internal newsletter;
- Assisting department in preparing responses for surveys and award submissions as needed;
- Assisting in providing communications guidance to administrative departments within the Firm, including providing support on projects related to recruiting and diversity; and
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with high academic standing, writing intensive majors are a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience, PR experience with a law firm or other professional or financial services firm preferred;
- Prior experience with a law firm is a plus;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Exceptional attention to detail;
- Professional demeanor, with ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion;
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects with challenging deadlines;
- Ability to write clearly and concisely;
- Ability to work diplomatically and collaboratively with partners and professional staff at all levels;
- Strong focus on client service and responsiveness; and
- Regular overtime required.
